Discover our journey from crossed paths to true love
Jess and Brett first crossed paths in 2018 while working together at The Coffee Bean's corporate office. They were coworkers, but their paths never really crossed. Still, they stayed in touch, their paths continuing to run parallel for years.
Then, in 2022, Brett asked Jess out for their a date. Their first date was at Two Bit Circus, a barcade in DTLA. Jess continuously beat Brett at Mario Kart and they quickly connected over their love of video games and 80s action movies. Their next date they went bowling at the Highland Park Bowl and Brett turned the tables and continously beat Jess. They were a perfect match!
As they began to spend more time together, Brett and Jess discovered just how aligned their tastes were. From deep dives into classic and bad movies alike, to sharing playlists, they found themselves constantly bonding over music and film. It wasn’t long before movie nights became a ritual: complete with popcorn, trivia, and heated debates over which Star Wars installment was the worst (they love Star Wars though, don't worry). From there, the adventures continued.
They attended Comic Con together, and even checked a major item off Jess's bucket list: a trip to Japan, where they explored Tokyo, ate the best sushi, and biked through Kyoto. Not long after returning home, they decided to take the next step and move in together. From assembling IKEA furniture with minimal arguing to spontaneous late-night garbage time (music video parties) in the living room, life under one roof felt effortless and full of joy.
It was shortly after moving in together that they decided to get a dog! Brett reluctantly agreed to get a small dog, a decision he quickly realized was one of the best they made together. They got a little Pomeranian named Ripley who became the center of their world.
On the dawn of the new year, in 2025, Brett got down on one knee right as the ball dropped and asked for Jessica to marry him. With the ring hidden in Ripley's collar, Brett proposed and Jess happily accepted.
